Julie Avenel - Business Analyst sur les secteurs tourisme et
hôtellerie, Boston Consulting Group
After completing a Master’s degree
in German, adding a broader dimension to
my academic background was key for me; that’s why I went for the Master’s
degree in Tourism Management at the Normandy
Business School
and the Brighton University. Through this MA/MSc, not only did I
gain strong academic skills in the tourism sector but also various relevant
work experiences within major tourism companies ( Barrière Group,
Lastminute.com). Coupled with the master’s
international background, it gave me the opportunity to complete a 8-months
internship within the Accor group, the European hospitality leader. Now recruited by the Boston Consulting Group, I work as a Business Analyst within the
Travel & Tourism department at its Paris
office on global strategic consulting projects. Revenir en haut de page

"
I wanted to train to work in the tourism industry because of my passion
for travel and to discover the historical and cultural heritage of
countries around the world. My first experience as a guide in a museum
in the USA was very motivating for me. I think the essential qualities
needed to work in the tourism industry are an ability to communicate
and interact easily, dynamism, a sense of initiative, imagination as
well as enthusiasm. All these qualities allow one to be competent,
effective and reactive. The quality of the teaching on the Master’s
programme, the award of an English qualification, the close
relationship with the faculty, the field trips, the pleasant
surroundings in the heart of Deauville all add value to the programme ".Revenir en haut de page

My main motivations were to obtain the Master’s Degree as well as
improve my language skills, and Deauville is a perfect and beautiful
place to study. I think the essential qualities an executive needs in
the tourism industry are communication skills, a love of people,
ability to work in stressful situations, flexibility and persistence.
The added value of this double degree MSc & MA Tourism and Leisure
Management gives the opportunity to study abroad, have a personal
development, meet students from different cultures and professionals
from the tourism industry ".
